Home Visits

If you are too ill to come to the surgery and you require a visit at home, please call the surgery before 10am and ensure you leave us a correct contact number.

The member of staff due to see you may phone you before visiting to assess the urgency of the visit and to try and prioritise their visiting schedule.

Practice policy is for Coulby Medical Practice to only carry out home visits for patients that are approaching end of life, are bedbound, or are severely frail.

As home visits require much more time than a consultation within the practice, we do have an expectation that if patients are physically able to attend the practice, then they do so.

For safety reasons, the practice is also clinically the best location for a poorly patient to be seen due to us housing emergency equipment and emergency drugs. We also have full access to medical records and assistance from other members of the team if required.
