Cervical Screening

Contact the surgery on 01642 045830 for more information about smears and to book an appointment.

A cervical screen or smear, checks the health of your cervix (the opening to the womb from your vagina). It is a test to help prevent cancer and is offered to all patients with a cervix aged 25 to 64. During the appointment, a small sample of cells will be taken from your cervix and they will be tested for any changes. Detecting the presence of any abnormal changes sooner rather than later means that you can be treated if needed before the changes potentially develop into a cervical cancer.
